About

JoAnn Houle

I decided to be an artist when I was 10 years old and I have never changed my mind. Initially I thought I would be an illustrator for comics or children’s books…however I discovered there isn’t a clear path and it’s a personal journey. Regardless of the lack of clarity, art has always been my north star, my internal compass, and I’ve always made all of my life decisions with this in mind.

I thought drawing and painting was it for me, it’s what I went to college for and got my BFA, but after solely creating collections for Saks Fifth Avenue these past 2 years (took 9 months of straight studio work to make 141 pieces for my last show) I’ve realized that I nolonger see myself as someone who only draws and paints…I see myself as more of a creative in-general. Like if you give me anything to build/make something with, I’ll figure it out and make ya something fun + probably cool. Hopefully beautiful. Therefore my vision for my future is now wide open, I nolonger have limiting beliefs and I’m excited to see what’s waiting for me outside my box. Cheers to creating art in 2025!

xoxo,

JoAnn
